PhD in bioinformatics here. I don't think teaching people how to use chatbots which lets face it is what Rishi really means, helps you "stay ahead of the curve" when it comes to AI. You won't know anything about how LLM's work anyways. Learning prompting is actually pretty basic stuff and as you say the tech itself is awful and yes dangerous. The companeis are also using a lot of debt to fund data centres that has dubious sustainability longterm and the price of using this tech is likely to rise dramatically. But people like Rishi with cushy jobs advising AI companies but no actual "AI skills" e.g. years of experience and study in data science won't tell you that.
