"So what makes it special?" The intent. A prompt is an intent. Art is MADE of intent, not fancy brush strokes. You can have sloppy art just as you can have sloppy prompts, and the opposite is also true.
A photograph can be made even easier than generating AI images. You can have sloppy photos, or great photos. Does that make it any less artistic?
