I came to this conclusion lately that the feeling of not knowing something should always be fed to your curiosity, or else it will end up building a defensive ego. I believe this is emphasized by current technology - if you are supposed to know or understand something, anything, you don't really have any excuse to not learn it. Information gathering isn't just about finding information anymore, it's about manipulating* information until it takes a form that works for your brain. *by manipulating I do mean using gen. AI to reshape information (e.g. your textbook definition of a subject) and break it down, rephrase, provide examples... whatever you need until you get that exciting feeling of knowing you just learned something new, and you understand it. Ego in these scenarios is just a defensive mechanism. We humans often end up being people that construct such mechanisms without knowing. Again, it's just my personal opinion of course. But I think most of us don't get to shape most of our life until we find ourselves in front of a job interview, having to prove that we control the knowledge that we received a diploma for. I'm sure those who dabble in psychology can either correct me or provide their definitions for what i'm trying to describe, but essentially I mean - you are defending the time you spent studying, which no matter if you "cheated" in any way or not, you would still consider as something that you achieved, time that you spent, and the diploma is there to "prove" that you've completed it. So when you're questioned and cannot answer, you become defensive. I believe it is absolutely natural. Whether you're scared of ending up jobless or not, your ego doesn't care about that, only about defending you from the "threat". idk, felt like I had to elaborate here. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk I guess if anyone did :x
