To answer "why would you want to live/why not live forever?"
This is why we have stories as warnings about vampires and ghouls, things that can live for eternity. It seems like when the possibility of pain, or better yet suffering can exist, then the possibility of death seems pleasurable. I mean if death truly was the cease of both pain and pleasure, that would be the absolute bliss because there would be no senses to feel more a sense of not sensing anything. It would be nothing and you would not know because "if you cannot think, then you are not."
If somehow we could live forever, I'd only think about the proposition depending on the circumstances of the world. Legit this whole talk I've just been thinking of The Amazing Digital Circus and I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream in like how awful an eternity of absolute torture from an AI (or multiple egos I think there are in the book) with an infinite amount of hatred and lack of morality for humanity.
NOW if I could live forever and choose whenever I want to die by my own means? Now that would be the best of all outcomes. I would like the ability to choose when I die rather than either just death at some point or eternity of life. Then I can choose how long I want to work on something until I am fulfilled. How long I want to enjoy the people around me.
