I agree with the sentiment of it, but I would argue that AI images are not art at all, at least not illustrative. I view art as the expression of yourself. Every choice you make when painting is somehow to be found in who you are. When I look back at different artworks or doodles I've made, for example, I can sense the emotion I had because I recognise how it affects my art; If I'm calm there's rounder shapes, calmer colours, fantastical motifs; If I'm stressed the art is more abstract, lines shakier, darker motifs, and arguably more creative results. I'd argue that anyone who puts the slightest effort in putting their pen to paper or any such equivalent is creating art, a child's drawing reflects their youth, their lives. Any person has something to express in art. But prompting AI imagery isn't expressive. The only part of it that I could find artistic is the writing of the prompt, the description of the idea crawling around inside their head, that is art in a sense. But the image that comes out isn't really art, or if it is, it's much more the art of the AI itself (and thus the compiled artists it's stolen from) than the prompter.
