@vampirichare Janet Sobel's original works would also have been covered by copyright in the example I gave, and she certainly didn't give permission for Pollock to copy them. I 100% agree that artists should be able to opt out of AI datamining, and that they should be able to block their name being used in prompts also - but those things are an ethics question, not a copyright one. (I went to art school 20 years ago, and have had my work commercially reproduced illegally over the years in various countries, hence my familiarity with copyright law in the US, EU and several other countries/jurisdictions).
