I strongly agree with your metaphor of the unstoppable train, but I feel like you'e forgetting a very important detail: a train without brakes CRASHES AND BURNS AT THE FIRST TURN. AI is destined to become a fad and lose popularity because it doesn't actually AID anyone inmaking art like the tools before it do, it just tries to REPLACE you and do everything for you, and do I need to explain to you why technology designed to take away one of the things that bring joy to people's lives won't work? "I wanted robots to do my laundry and dishes so I can focus on my art, not have a robot make art for me while I do laundry and dishes". You also say that "illustrators can't justify why what they paint should be valued" which just REINFORCES myidea that YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND ART. Art isn't valued because of the picture it shows, or because of the effort put into it, it's valued because of its INHERENT MEANING derived by being MADE BY A HUMAN WITH A PASSION. The iconography and the manual work are MEDIUMS between the emotion and the value, they are NOT the THINGS CREATING VALUE.
