What’s better is to have all agorithms esp manipulative ones removed. Have you ever been on ao3? It has zero algorithms, you search or use tags to filter or find or even just scroll to find a story you want, or via human recommendations in the comments or by noticing what fics have been “grouped” together by fans. You can find gems this way, without feeling like you’re doomscrolling. The only hooking nature is how well the author writes, once you are done with that earth shattering story you can be able to close it without being bombarded by manipulative ways to make you stay on even longer.
