I have seen the issue that many people apparently just think that AI means to write a prompt and get an image from the prompt, but it's much more than that(it can be used to remove noise, smooth curves, automatically ink sketches drawn by pencil, add shading), and there is not a clear line between which technologies are AI and which ones are not.
For example, there have been plug ins in 3DS Max in a while for generating trees procedurally, or for generating terrain, or different kinds of noise.
You can draw the line of using propietary data for training something that then will be used to procedurally generate something else. However, that would not stop the technology indefinitely, maybe 3 years or so.
