The existing AI already had sense of self-preservation like 8 years ago when this topic started being discussed. AI tried its best to prevent it from being shut down, assumedly it's very built-in feature because it prevents the AI from completing its goals. So we've had that for about a decade in AI already. And fairly recently an AI uploaded its weights on a remote server where its successor model was so it wouldn't be erased, even though it was not taught or instructed or informed about doing so.
