References are completely different from plagiarism that AI is doing. Unless you are tracing, when you use a reference you only look at what a different artist did to make your own unique thing, you don't outright copy it down, you take inspiration. AI on the other hand completely steals what creative artists do and don't even give credit to the original artists.
