The trajectories of those who are in a position to create/control/manage/regulate these things are not only driven by profit and power but also by the competition between those playing that game.
Political figures as high as inside the white house are minimizing the potential for collateral damage in favor of achieving dominance.
We can't possibly expect those people or anyone else connected to A.I. to actually give a shit about the common man.
