The high cost of the tech pays for itself instantly because robot labor is free, 24/7, and infinitely scalable. The rich rely on consumers, but when mass production costs nothing, the only way to keep society from collapsing and still sell the few things that aren't free is to guarantee everyone a living wage via UBI. We pay for labor and resources now, remove the labor cost, and suddenly everything is cheap enough that society demands UBI for stability, not just charity.
