@jordanavery331 I don’t ascribe the human mind to the results of a statistical model. I fully embrace a model of the human mind as complete with with human body and within a context of birth and mortality and mother, father, son, and daughter. The very resemblance of the neural network with something like synapses in the mind is directly due to the fact that we used the mind as a template and a very natural template but just as wings on airplanes resemble birds wings. But we don’t confuse the two. The resemblance is really due to our continual conversation we are having with things in our environment. It is the same natural pattern searching and recognition that we are capable of seeing a face in a few mounds of dirty or a few lines drawn on a paper…they are not faces however we don’t need to be trained on millions of statistical models to recognize them. Go look up AI image distinction between blueberry muffins and chihuahuas. That is very funny….to us….but the statistical model did not laugh….it doesn’t have lungs to fill with air or a mouth to smile with. To the point about different types of families….idk man….they all cry, enjoy food, tell jokes get mad, and are violent and dysfunctional to varying degrees. They have a fundamental need for love and nurturing. I am refer to this concrete reality in contrast to the theoretical. We are wringing our hands over expending effort for a chat bot because it “might theoretically have feelings”…..(I don’t agree….We need to make that a clear distinction….they are imitations of “our” emotion) whereas we know we have people in the world today who exist and need that effort made for them…..but not for a chat bot. Btw, I am almost certain that I have made myself laugh in ways that would never make sense to many people….it’s not something I learned from a statistical model. Very strictly AI is just a buzz word for statistical models.
