@agegarret Thank you! Very simply there needs to be a push for non-AI art not to defeat AI but as a niche to protect those with real skills who work on them. And Indies. It won't defeat AI art - they can use public domain and art gulags (where you can license art already made vs direct 1:1 commission) to re-train the major AI modules (who needs to power Bulgaria for a year) even if the court cases are "Won". Then back to square one 99.9% the same and 100% legal. The big companies want to use this to cut down on artists and are already using 3rd world ones to undercut 1st world ones. It's worth not powering Bulgaria for a year since they'd not shudder in the dark over winter. The only fair way is to make it so step #1 has to be pencils, Inks, paints on PAPER. (or canvas) AND original stuff - for indie publication with the label and standard "Non-Aiart" as a niche. The backup of physical media artists drew on is the proof. Even then they can scan it in and COLOR it with tech since trying to color it (comic art) the ink bleeds even 'waterproof' and the slightest touch often ruins a picture with fractal clouds, even overnight... No one complained about the automation replacing the people who had to photograph to make printer plates, $100 per color for 4 colors...the printing fees of minimum 20,000 runs for even a vanity press...!? Otherwise, as they were already, the generative AI is going into the art software to help the "Artists" create new work and would have even if there never was Stable Diffusion or other modules. Corel Painter has had "Auto-Paint" since 1998 - where it will go over any image you put into it with any brush in its system - then via the "Clone Brush" you can use the same brush to go over areas the program didn't do that well, usually hands and faces and in minutes you have what Van Gogh or other artists would have taken the whole day or more on. Didn't see anyone complaining about THAT and they CELEBRATED when in 2020 the "Corel Painter 2021" had AI in it...more fully. Improved brushes, correction, and yes even better auto-trace where you almost didn't have to use that Clone brush anymore. Too bad most punky kids who thought they were "Digital Artists" but drew pretty elf chicks on vapid/non existent backgrounds used pirated photoshop or they'd have pretended to draw backgrounds via that feature... So again pencil, paper, inks, paints. Get a Canson mixed media art book on sale, get Kamar Varnish, some pencils (mechanical and graphite) practice a 15 minutes to 1 hour a day <> any projects. Look at Pinterest, paused video, stuff IRL. Hey, you are training your non-AI "Module" on anything including stuff not in the public domain but you don't fear trouble as long as you don't trace 1:1. However eye to mind to hand to paper - that's what this exercise does. And Joony Art other beginners - LLLurrn tu Draw Backgrounds, landscapes... No scraping a tablet 5 times for ONE tiny line and needing to buy a "Brush pack" for that line... Do this you'll be able to do good drawings with a PEN directly in a year or two, not even needing to pencil them first for simple ones.... And look at "Underground Comix" like Bode, Crumb...
