I don't see ball sports or most other sports going away in my lifetime and I'm in my mid-30's. People love competing and people love seeing other people compete. Humanity has always been wired to compete in some way or another. We're always trying to one-up each other or one-up computer opponents in games like chess with the world's best human chess player vs a computer designed for nothing but chess. There is competition between political parties, law and criminals, businesses that sell the same types of products like Popeyes and KFC, or hypothetically you and that one miserable coworker who is trying to make everyone around them miserable. We'll compete against AI. We'll fight to keep our jobs or come up with an asymmetrical response that ensures our financial success. There could easily be a well-regulated sport with armed AI-controlled drones shooting each other, kind of like Battlebots with their weapons. That's already a part of today's warfare but not so much with AI, but that's coming soon to a battlefield near you. We're always innovating.
