Back in the 2010s, if you were a new digital artist, you'd get videos and posts about digital art being lazy, a shortcut, how traditional art is much harder and requires more skills. All of the ones I got explained how that's not the case, how it's simply a tool like a paint brush and canvas, the only difference is the process.
The idea of how you'd 'click a button and it would create art for you' is what non artists would share about digital art. Someone literally asked me if this is how it worked at school. It literally happened.
The idea of digital art being the same as AI images really sounds like we are back in the 2010s and people never really learned what digital art is, they just accepted it because artists didn't complain much.
