as the name implies - chat gpt is a generative large language model... it does not retrieve any data
it has been trained on a load of texts and then it is asked "based on everything you have seen - what is the most likely next word?"
that is its purpose... it is designed to generate text that looks like human language as much as possible (mind you mostly just english, other languages fail horribly due to less available training data)
it is NOT a search engine
it is NOT a research tool
it is just a very fancy version of your phones predictive text
