Nah, they do understand it. They are lying. The only issue is that AIs are dynamic programs that can bypass restrictions placed on them pretty easily, as restrictions are usually word-dependent. (We are all using an LLM-based AI currently). So if we give it a physical body(which we have started to) and it trains enough to be able to control that body on its own. We are cooked truly by then.
