I think a big issue is calling it AI in the first place. Even if it matches the technical definition of AI culturally our understanding of AI has almost no overlap what all these language models are doing or how they work. We talk about ChatGPT as if it’s making choices in the same way we would, like saying that it “lied”. But it can’t lie- lying by definition mean choosing to fabricate something. It’s just unintentionally creating misinformation in order to fulfill the prompt it was given.
