The media love a headline (and that makes them part of the problem).
The lawyers have done a thorough job of destroying their careers.
The take home message to me is that these large language models are trained to create sentences and paragraphs that are in the style of real people doing serious work. It is the plausibility and persuasiveness of the text that will trick people into acting on it (see also politicians and demagogues). Were all the outputs done in the style of a Peter and Jane learn to read book then less damage would be done (not that Cats don't sit on Mats).
