androids in the workplace is a fallacy. When Optimus works well enough, it will be great as a telepresence surrogate so a handicap person could go shopping or do simple chores. But why buy an Optimus to stand in one place to pack widgets, cut hair, etc. if the batteries and legs aren’t needed? Could it be a caretaker if it’s too weak to help someone get up? One-size-fits-all is a bad strategy, And, Understand! that AI learning and vision are ALREADY used in today’s factory automation controls. So an android would be no help there. Now imagine you are inside a Optimus suit, your brain could perfectly control it. Could you go work at McDonalds and put a lid on a paper cup? Can the sensors feel enough of the lid that you won't just crush the lid or the cup? Wash your hands? Crack an egg? How long would it take you to change gloves or put a nut on a screw etc.? A humanoid or android MUST do a job on par with a person because workplaces are made so people along with automation maximize asset utilization. That is why you CAN'T just put two androids in place of one person. Humanoids prepping habitats on the moon or mars is not in the cards, ask NASA. The fact that they put eyes on the back of the head PROVES that copying the human form is not ideal. Seems like one longer arm with a camera on its wrist would be a useful feature. Making an android for any task except to mimic a person is the antithesis of first-principles.
