You know, as much as I agree with your friends, I understand the whole concept of "investors tell me to write uninspired garbage to appeal to the lowest common denominator". I get it. I do. However, just like you said, that brought us to this situation where you could replace 90% of Disney writers with ChatGPT3 and no one would notice. This is what happens when you dont take risks.
They didnt recognize the fact that they are replaceable workers like any other that gets fired due to automatization of jobs and focussed on saving their own asses instead of trying to rally support for every worker that might need it. Here we are. Now, maybe they can focus on writing exactly what they want to write instead and see what floats.
