The question you raise is an important one but fundamentally misses the heart of it its not "How" will we earn the money to continue to contribute to the economy?
its actually "Why" will we earn the money to continue to contribute to the economy?
when the cost of all labor in every sector falls to zero the economy as we understand it falls to zero
which means we'll ultimately either have to discard the notion of capitalism all together and distribute goods and services on the basis of needs (in an environment that has very few resource bottle necks anymore its not as out there as it sounds, as most resource bottle necks are ones born of labor rather than raw material shortages )
or we transition over to some form of stakeholder economy where every one gets shares in the automated means of production and gets to spend those dividends as they see fit.
the big issue is how we get to there...from here hurting the leat number of people in the process.
