@jackislegitterrified3689 Yeah, I used to draw by hand before that. I was never very good, but it still was a lot of hard work on my part. And AI was in a bit responsible why I quit -- I felt like most of people here. I took a long break and then I tried it myself. And now I use it and kinda love it.
All this is a question of morals and ethics and I've never cared about any of these.
I quit drawing by hand, took a break and over time I couldn't help but notice that I like AI art much more than the "real" art. Most of my favorite artists had started to look very bland in comparison. Boring and just unskilled compared to a really good AI art. In the end I just admitted to myself that it's better and switched to it myself.
AI is taking art from other artists? No more than a new artist is taking from old ones by learning from them and repeating their techniques. What exactly is it stealing? A brush stroke? A tiny detail? Lock of hair? Lips? An eye? Gimme a break...
Do I "really wanna live in a world where art is as easy as looking something up on google"? AI is a progress. Whether we want to stop it or not -- we can't. It's already out. And it's extremely accessible. And it's only going to get better. Just today I've found another generator, installed it on my PC, learned so much. Just in one day. Sadly can't use it yet, my PC is too old and weak, it takes ages to generate something. When I buy new one, I'll go balls-deep in it. I'll learn Loras and models...
All I did was merely accepting reality. I create pictures that I like. That (hopefully) people like.
I don't want to make excuses, because I really don't care what people think, but just as I was spending hours drawing by hand, I now spend hours generating and then editing the best result until I'm satisfied. In the end the result is a good picture. I have seen AI art that's better and has more soul and creativity than any "real" artist can make. It is, all of it, is just a question of morals and ethics. And I don't think there can be "too much art". I have dozens of picture of my certain favorite characters and I keep adding more and more to the pile.
Artists would lose job... Please. Who cares. I had this dream. I've lost it thanks to AI in a big part. Nobody cares. So why should I? Let them go find another job, another way to live, like I have to. Best ones, with unique style will probably make still make a decent living out of it.
