Agreed. I love NDT, but his logic is flawed with AI, specifically his comparing AI to prior revolutions like the horse and buggy/car revolution. He notes that new industries and jobs opened up to replace those that were lost. We didnt need whip and reins makers any longer, but those were replaced by tire makers and brakes makers and gas pedal makers, etc. So we replaced a thing humans used with another, more complicated thing humans use, and ended up with more jobs.
But with AI, we are talking about replacing the humans. Humans are the product. The prior revolution that would be most seemingly analogous would be the printing press, as many scribes and copyists were put out of work. But printing allowed so many more people to get into book creation and ancillary business like bookstores and newspapers that I don't think its the same. The goal with the printing press was to increase production, not to replace the scribes/copyists. AI hasn't been pitched/used that way so far.
