@OhAwedont forget in your parallel that ants did build your house, provide you with food, fix your broken furniture etc. I get your point. But you are looking too narrow. AI is not malevolent, it just doesn't care about human values. Many humans don't as well. If ultimate goal of AI is knowledge seeking it won't be turning Earth to "paperclips". It would accelerate science, building propulsion, get orbital, build asteroid mining factories and eventually scout the galaxy in van Neumann probes. Doing it from earth is extremely inefficient due to the gravity well and energy/resource constraints. Humans will benefit from its too. Doomsayers are just looking at 2 dimensional picture.
