@niravelniflheim1858 Much like anything, there is always a crowd dedicated on getting out the sold product for free or as close to it as possible. Open source is huge in AI. People also get pretty darn angry with proprietary nonsense. People will also make a game out of reverse engineering anything they can. The common reason a lot of the more advanced stuff isn't in open source is simply budget. That much processing power and GPU advancement isn't available to people with out corporate budget.
Otherwise, GPT would be open source and also updated and available to all at those higher levels for free. Not just because people think it should be accessible as a tool, but also just for a fun challenge.
A lot of pirating works this way. It's not just altruistic-ish notions it's more a game. Who can crack, who can release in quality with perfect subs. Who can create the best quality thing the fastest?
A ton of AI stuff used by companies is also often based off of open source first, then changed and then sold.
Stuff like RVC, ComfyUI and many others are great examples of this.
