Never been to Civitai or Huggingface, huh? Many models are community made and freely distributed to run on home machines or cloud GPUs, no big corporate overlord required. It's the same with chatbots and agents; there's projects plugging them into RPGs to make NPCs more interactive, create followers in Skyrim that talk and fight using AI, really lots of creative homebrew stuff, it's exciting to work with. But then there's the corporate greed angle, and the grifters... it's a wild ride with a long way to go, we're just gonna have to figure this out.
