As a conservative he also is pro deregulation and that's what opens the doors to the abuses you and he are assuming would happen. Women NEED to have the right to have autonomy over their own bodies. The problem comes then when the GOVERNMENT or Health Industry then passes a law saying we must abort all pregnancies where down syndrome is detected. The latter has NOTHING to do with if the former is allowed or not. And you and he are incorrectly and grossly connecting the two as if one directly and automatically causes the other and that's objectively not the case. Actual pro choice people also would support law that prohibit government blanketly choosing to abort pregnancies based on things that are discriminatory. But simply wanting the mother to be the one to have autonomy of her body does not equate to all mothers suddenly banding together to choose to abort pregnancies that have a certain disability detected. On the individual level mothers should have that choice because they are the one who would have to carry the pregnancy to term. It's government or health industry forming a mandate saying those mothers can't abort those pregnancies that is the problem as that is forcing women to give birth. Same thing with being pro-prostitutuon, which I am too. If an STD outbreak happened afterward. The answer is not to re-criminalize prostitution. The answer is to make sure our health care system is robust enough to handle an outbreak and that people are educated enough in sexual health to know how to engage in that activity safely by using condoms or taking preventative medicines like PrEp and DoxyPep which, if all sexually active people used, there'd almost never be worry for STD outbreaks in the first place.
