@FromTheWombTotheGraveI don't know if many organizations even have a defined role for this. My approach has been 1. Automate my own job before someone comes and does it for (to) me. 2. Look for opportunities to demonstrate how I automated my job to others and use the free time to do cool new things for the company 3. Let the opportunity roll in. I already have top down excitement from the C-suite level going "look what this guy can do" and random people throughout the organization coming to me saying "hey can you do that for me?" I could automate the entire business with the right equipment, machine learning, AI tools, but seeing where everybody else is at in terms of understanding this stuff, and how much old infrastructure needs to be replaced, it'll take decades to implement in the real world, even if we hit AGI on the computer screen. The job already exists and it doesn't even have a title or a role you can apply for anywhere I've seen. Though, go browse Upwork. Everybody wants an AI/ML expert, and you don't need a degree to be that expert. There isn't even a degree for it yet (though I do plan to get the MIT cert starting in February). Just take some time, get curious, and take advantage of it.
