Too much just happened. I just wrote a really long answer to your question, and I realized even more that now I need to consider. For now, I will only say this: Microsoft is holding all the innovations, they've got the next generation of computing, and all the AI problems we currently complain about are completely moot. Old AI is over, the data centers will be decommissioned very shortly.
