@Lockpick-Rogue take this with a grain of salt because i havent heavily researched this, but as of right now its only cheaper for the consumer. the reason ai art is so cheap is because ai companies and their investors are eating the costs hoping that someday this sht will be profitable, and are slowly falling appart because of it. spoiler alert, ai art is not sustainable because the power and storage costs are unsustainable, so unless they start charging crazy fees for them, they wont be arround forever, but not before messing up the livelihoods of sooo many actual artists
