@therealvbw genuine question, how do you not see it that way? "AI artists," whether they intend to or not, are spitting in the faces of real artists and the concept of art itself (I recognize that may sound snobbish but it's the truth here.) Not only because they didn't actually put in work (no, tweaking a prompt does not count), but they have the gall to post it and feel entitled to the same attention/job opportunities real artists had to work hard to achieve, and have had their art stolen by AI for its generation. Now I see some people saying that art should be accessible to everyone, and I agree! But AI is not the way to go about it-- art supplies should be cheaper, art schools and programs should also be cheaper to allow for more students, etc... art should be accessible in a way that encourages and welcomes people from any background/class to learn and draw by their own hands, whether it's digitally or traditionally. That goes the same for any creative work. AI literature is not valid literature, not over real authors. AI music is not valid music, not over real musicians, and so on and so forth. AI is accessible technically, and that's great, I don't believe it should be withheld from the general public despite its flaws and environmental damage. But AI teaches you nothing, it creates slop from real art that looks terrible on the first try, and even tweaking it over and over will not produce a 100% completed work, because it cannot. AI cannot replicate a human's intention, passion, brushstrokes, it can't replicate the soul. Hell, even all the weird stuff over on deviant art has more value than AI art, because the artists are passionate and skilled, they know how and what they want to put on paper and or screen. AI does not, it does not have a consciousness and it should never have one, because we don't need it to. Either you put it in the work to become an artist, or you don't at all and you become an "AI artist" who will continually be exposed and pushed out of the art community, rightfully so. So yes. AI art is inherently offensive, for so many reasons, but the main reason is that it's not human. It never will be, and that's not okay.
