If we’re going to be realistic about it, using ai to generate a reference is no different than looking at other artists’ work for inspiration and reference. So no, looking at it for reference isn’t bad in itself. Just be prepared to get jumped by art purists because the art community is kind of petty and aggressive. As long as you aren’t simply tracing someone else’s work and claiming it as your own, you should be good. Just remember that ai has a lot of wonk proportions, extra body parts, and physically impossible poses so it won’t be the most reliable. Magic Poser is a really nice assist tool with good 3d models and props that would probably suit your needs better than an ai generator.
