@minyaw1234 Many countries like the EU and the US are looking into regulating these ai models with new laws because of the potential dangers this could pose to society. Generally speaking, people trying to defend something in legally grey areas because it's "legal" is frowned upon. People that violate the spirit of the law but follow the letter of the law are judged more harshly that people that violate the letter of the law but follow the spirit of the law. I saw a US congress woman grill a head of an AI company saying she listened to an ai song based off a musician before coming to the hearing and wanted to know what systems the ai companies have in place to compensate artists. The AI CEOs said they welcomed any government regulations that would address that important issue because it was indeed an important topic to them. The congress woman upon realizing that was not an answer, asked the question again multiple times until they had to admit, they had no system in place to compensate musicians for the work they stole. Governments aren't in the business of letting companies undermine their societies in the pursuit of progress. What's funny is ai companies in the beginning said it would be unethical to train ai on musicians' work. In their own words, they recognized the ethical issues around stealing other's work without permission or compensation. And we artists complained that we wanted the same protections for visual arts. I guess they sort of listened to us and took that to mean they would steal from musicians too so both the visual arts and music were treated the same.
