@grreeeeee  what it says is that regardless of AI, he would have lost his job anyway, so it is relevant. the industry is already evaporating before ai. he would lose his job around now no matter what. if anyone was going into writing right now, they wouldn't be able to get a job, or at least would have a much more difficult time getting one. It also kind of shows that as far as consumers are concerned, writers are largely pointless/it's a very bloated field. people can actually tell when something is written by ai because it's horrible, and nobody really cares that all these things are written by ai, because nobody's going to these websites. you don't need journalists and people reporting on things when all you really want is a bullet point summary at most, and if you really wanted to know what was happening somewhere, there's somebody on twitter who's posting about it, and is there on the ground. And really, if your job is just filling seo so that people click on a link, and then the website makes like two cents from ads, is that meaningful? Is that something you want to be doing? Is it a good use of your skill? i'm gonna go with no I took freelance writing jobs when I was in college, the pay is absolute s***, so there's literally nowhere this guy can be living where he was making a meaningful amount of money off of that. and the reason is because, again before ai, there were so many people applying for all of these jobs, every single time they got posted that they didn't need to pay well. there's ten thousand people applying for every single one. so ultimately it was like less than minimum wage as far as the hours that it would take were concerned. So despite the fact that they're paying that little, they still were not making any money, so that now they're resorting to having an algorithm basically repost what's on other websites, because that's how ai works. But the point here is that they were going to shut their sights down anyway, the number of jobs available was going to basically become zero as far as freelance writing is concerned, either they're gonna have staff writers, and there's gonna be very few of them, because again, twitter exists, well, they're just going to shut down completely because it's not profitable. it was like one group buying fifty domains and reposting the same s*** and the only purpose of that was to flood search results to try and maximize ad rev. So again, a I is like a last ditch effort for some of these groups to try to still make money, but they're not going to. so it's kind of like defibrillating someone who's already in a coma.
