You do realize you also a simple chemical machine made up from different neurotransmitter and different neural network.
I have designed processor chip during my studies. I can see how the logic gate could be the next neuron of the silicon, as most of them also operate on the same law of neurotransmitter. For example Glutamate is ON signal, GABA is OFF signal. Other neurotransmitter are neuromodulator like Serotonin, Dopamine, Ach, Cannabinoid etc.
