Because they have to be PAID; the goal (of (most) corporate board rooms/investment companies) is to make the most money- which puts more in my pockets? Paying someone 100K a year, or keeping that 100K a year? (Of course, they forget how much the LICENSING fees to the AI company will be, but they'll charge cheap until the industry is gutted of human drivers, then like streaming services, "shockingly" will get just as if not more expensive- but the competition will be, as stated, gutted.)
