I can agree somewhat with that. I took delivery of my 2026 Model Y 3 weeks ago. It comes with a 1 month trial of FSD. I heavily used the self park and summon features (wish I could just buy them separately), but I am using the Self Drive (with supervision) less over time. I have a 31 year driving history with a perfect record. Some of the issues I have with FSD: 1. FSD will sometimes change lanes without using a turn signal, even on highways with traffic. 2. If pulling out of a parking lot onto a two lane road and turning left, in some locations the left camera cannot see the traffic coming from the left. I have had to hard brake and disengage twice due to the FSD attempting to accelerate into the oncoming traffic. 3. The touchscreen has a virtual copy from what the cameras see. When sitting at a traffic light today behind a few other cars, the virtual copy would switch the traffic light from red to green then back to red many times. The real world light was red the entire time this happened. 4. On the touchscreen, you can see the posted speed limit. There is one street that is 45 mph and the car recognizes this. FSD will only drive 35 mph in this section. 5. Lane changing: FSD often makes multiple lane changes that are completely unnecessary. For example, I was 0.25 miles from my exit, FSD changed to an inner lane, halfway passed one car, then began signalling back into the outer lane. The car beside me on the right had to brake for the FSD to get in to make the exit. 6. Leaves on my driveway. FSD glitches out when it sees leaves as it thinks its not a road. Perhaps these issues are limited to just my car, I don't know. I keep the cameras clean. Overall, I think the technology has really pushed the boundaries of a self driving vehicle. As for trusting the lives of my family and I with it, I do not plan to purchase it monthly or as an owned upgrade. I think one day it will be much better, but it doesn't fully feel safe. I also believe that Tesla should have used Lidar with the camera vision system.
