Del Stanley, the funny thing is they did. One of the big arguments against cars at the time was a car couldn't take you home when you were passed out drunk, which horses could! There will always be nay-sayers. There are thousands of extremely qualified engineers and scientists working on this technology with hundreds of millions of dollars backing it. Sure, accidents will happen. It's not perfect, but it's already way better than human drivers. I think all the people complaining about self-driving cars, which seems to be the majority, are probably people who are at risk of loosing their job once the technology comes commonplace which will just be another decade or two away. I'm not saying I know this for a fact, but it's the only reason I can come up with as to why there are so many people against a technology that will potentially save thousands and thousands of lives per year. Either that, or that many people are just ignorant. Maybe that's it. I don't know, .. and suddenly don't care. Sigh.
