Could AI ever compete with Walter De Maria for example?
Maybe it could come up with the concept of „Lightning field“ for example.
But for now AI could never walk out and make it a reality. Maybe in 40 years with humanoid robots.
I think the entire AI discussion invites us to broaden our understanding of art.
Just take artists building mechanical machines from old parts. AI can by now only do Illustration. But Art is so much more.
Not saying there are great human Illustrators, too.
Or a Robero Matta painting 12x4m in Oil is still an other league as a printed AI generation.
