@terryscott524 I'm convinced it's an impossibility insofar as our technological prowess is constrained by our scientific understanding. You can't make a hydrogen bomb without understanding physics first. And I don't think there's any reason to believe we are ever going to fully understand human consciousness, which is the sine qua non for creating sentient AI. People have theorized that they could replicate biogenesis for hundreds of years, but lo and behold, I've yet to see a homunculus!
