What if the UBI is only enough for ONE thing on your list? Or worse yet: none of them at all. And you didn't even mention housing. People keep assuming they will be able to live a modestly decent life off of UBI. What makes them think that will actually be the case? I think there's enough evidence that those in power generally don't care all that much much about the lower classes, that it is safe to assume one will not live in modest comfort under such a program but rather in relative poverty and suffering. Also: even if that would work for you, not everyone is fine with the bare minimum, especially if there is no longer any hope of escaping whatsoever due to the changes AI is going to bring.
