@alyenalyen3885 What I said is applied to real people, it's called copyright law. A person can't reproduce or use another persons art and profit from it unless they have permission from the original creator. Also copywrite does not apply to just 1:1 copying so you're misinformed on that topic. Furthermore it does not matter if Generative AI does not produce 1:1 copies for its output, the issue is the input companies used to achieve said output and this is the nuance you and other AI art defenders don't seem to grasp. Many of these companies did not secure legal rights to use these artist's works to make their commercial product (this being the Generative AI). So training their AI on those stolen works and then profiting off of it is a crime! If I were to steal a bunch of bread and make sandwiches out of it and sell those sandwiches, does that excuse me from stealing the bread? No, of course it doesn't, and Generative AI is no different. In most cases the art was stolen so the fact that the AI turns out different art does not excuse these companies from their theft.
