@mimimoomoo2902 It’s not off topic though, you compared it to stealing a candy bar in your original comment. That’s why I brought it up. It being too tedious is still subjective. Some people like messing with it and dialing things in. And drawing takes way more time and effort to get good at anyway, so I don’t really see how that proves anything 🤷 I don't think artists need permission to look at other work and learn from it. If someone studies how another artist shades or composes something and starts doing similar things in their own work, nobody treats that like theft. Because nothing was taken from the original artist. AI is doing something pretty similar, just at scale. It analyzes a lot of art and picks up on patterns. Humans do the same thing, just slower and on a smaller scale. Breaking into someone's house and taking a picture would obviously still be wrong, but it’s not the same thing as theft. Nothing is being taken away from them, the original work is still there, untouched. Theft means something is actually taken or you’re deprived of it, not just that something similar exists somewhere else. And it’s not even a great comparison to AI anyway, because AI isn’t going in and copying one specific piece. It’s learning from patterns across a bunch of different works. People using tools to make money isn’t exactly new either. That’s how pretty much everything works. And with AI, it’s not like a specific artist’s work is being taken and sold as-is, it’s outputs based on patterns learned from tons of different sources. Just saying a YouTuber or a company agrees doesn’t really prove anything on its own. People had the same reaction to photography when it first showed up, acting like it was going to replace art entirely, and that didn’t really happen.
