There is too little regulation on how these companies and other people use it. Huge companies basically found a loophole that bypasses plagiarism laws; throw whatever you're copying into an AI model, then somehow that makes it not stealing because you spent millions of dollars building the machine that lets you steal.
No, AI isn't universally bad, but it should never be used as a replacement for real artists, actors or writers. Let it help with the mundane, so the real humans can focus on the fun stuff. Whenever I see AI art being used, I consider it like if someone framed and hung a picture from a dollar store. Cheap and ugly, but they tried to make it not be. Lowest effort possible. And if they try to tell me it's their work, yeah no. They commissioned it from the Ai, they didn't make anything. Glad your friend is finding joy using it though, so long as it stays a hobby.
