You've used the condition "if it's used right". The individual-society relationship is similar to a child-daddy-mommy relationship. Parents have the power to discourage behaviors of their children considered to be socially dysfunctional and immoral. With this power, good for the child can be done, under the condition this power is responsibly used, similarly to what you've said. Unfortunately, this relationship (as-is with societal-individual relationships) can get dysfunctional. Different parents exist, as does different governmental structure. Some actions against the child (in a normal relationship) are unjustified, as some laws of any country are questionable. A child abuser is similar to leader stripping their people of their autonomy. Governments can have structural malleability, meaning it can change from one structure to another (E.g. Democracy to Fascism, Republic to Communism, Vice versa). The ideology behind Anti AI policing mostly comes from the general concern of abuse. Police are proxies of the law, and the law is by no means perfect.
