someone who works in ai should know better as I'm a ML researcher specifically in recursive algorithms for a frontier lab. yes they are probabilistic but that doesn’t mean they are useless parrots. multimodal models can reason across text, vision, and audio. they beat pros at go and starcraft, they design drugs with alphafold, they pass the bar and medical boards. copilots are shipping production code (we write 50% of out code via ai at our lab), radiology labs use cnn-based vision to flag what specialists miss. the “can’t count words” line is outdated, these same models do olympiad math (IMO) and formal proofs. they don’t need human style thought to take work, they just need to outperform in narrow domains and they already are
