AI is great, it's just the issue of it directly stealing art from people without their consent and now allowing them to opt out of it when it is stolen. Like you said it's similar to humans using references and studying individuals brush strokes, but in the reality, humans can not make a perfect replica of something they still process it in their own way based on there experiences and emotions, an AI is compiling other people's stolen images and art and mushing it together. It's the exact same as someone tracing someone else's art exactly which in the artist community is frowned upon.
I do understand your point though, and AI is a great thing for the future, just not in the way where it's directly stealing images.
